Acne Rosacea

What is Acne Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic condition that affects facial skin. It is characterized by redness on the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. Over time, the redness tends to become ruddier and more persistent and visible blood vessels may appear (telangiectasia). If left untreated, bumps and pimples (acne rosacea) often develop and in severe cases the nose may grow swollen and bumpy (think W. C. Fields).

Acne Rosacea signs and symptoms include:
  • Flushed looking cheeks
  • ‘Broken’ capillaries
  • Acne/Pimples
  • Oil gland enlargement
  • Enlarged, bumpy nose (rhinophyma)
This condition affects women and men, but men sometimes leave it untreated longer therefore it appears more severe.

Treatment Options

  • Skin Care Treatment

At Laser Health Works, we will customize your skin care regime to provide optimal results. We also advise the avoidance of factors which are thought to worsen this condition. These include the avoidance of harsh climatic effects on the face, dehydrating beverages and the moderation of alcohol intake if this is thought to aggravate the condition. (Some patients with acne rosacea choose not to drink alcohol at all).

  • Laser Treatment

Laser therapy with a highly specific laser is the best treatment option for reversing the condition of rosacea.  Redness is reduced or eliminated. Small blood vessels can be eliminated and even prominent nasal veins can be reduced.

At Laser Health Works we specialize in the treatment of Rosacea.  Let our Medical Team at Laser Health Works help you decide what treatment is best for your facial redness.

  • Pulse Dye Laser

The Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) is equipped to target spots on the skin that are vascular in nature. These reddened areas are made up of blood vessels and blood. The Pulsed Dye Laser has a large spot size so significant areas of the skin can be treated quickly.  For treatment of acne rosacea, PDL was the first laser treatment to be used. Pulsed Dye Laser has been shown to reduce various symptoms of acne rosacea in just one or two treatments.

  • BBL Treatment

BBL (BroadBand Light) technology harnesses the power of pulsed light to reduce the excessive facial redness of Rosacea. The targeted areas respond by producing collagen, shrinking dilated blood vessels, fading troublesome skin imperfections, and rejuvenating the texture, tone and colour of your complexion.
