Wrinkles and fine lines can make you feel years older than you are. In the past, these features were an inevitable fact of life. Fortunately, this is no longer the case. Today, there are a number of cosmetic treatments available that erase these signs of aging so you can look as young as you feel.

At Laser Health Works, we specialize in aesthetic treatments that can help you look and feel your absolute best. One of the most popular of these treatments is BOTOX®.

How Does BOTOX® Work?

Wrinkles aren’t caused by aging alone; they’re the result of the strain that repeated muscle contractions and facial movements put on your skin. This is why younger people can also develop facial wrinkles.

BOTOX® is an injectable neuromodulator that smoothes fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles near them. It relaxes these muscles using a tiny, purified amount of botulinum toxin, derived from the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Because BOTOX® can’t keep these muscles relaxed forever, periodic injections are required to maintain results.

BOTOX® injections are relatively painless, and typically take no more than 10 to 20 minutes to administer. And because there’s no downtime associated with BOTOX®, you could receive your injections during your break and go right back to work afterward — it is truly a lunchtime procedure.
Some effects of the injections can be seen 3 or 4 days after treatment, with full results visible after 7-10 days. Results usually last somewhere between 3 and 5 months. At this time, additional injections are required to maintain results.

Am I a Good Candidate for BOTOX®?

Ideal candidates for BOTOX® are generally in good health and have no infections at the time of injection. During your consultation, we will take into consideration your medical history, aesthetic goals, and state of your wrinkles to determine if BOTOX® is right for you.
