Red Moles

What You Need To Know About Red Moles

If you have a small red dot anywhere on your skin that looks like a combination of a pimple and a large freckle, there’s a good chance that you have a red mole. They can appear anywhere on the body, but there is a better chance that they will appear on a spot that has had more direct contact with sunlight (e.g., arms, face).

Red moles can appear on any part of the body, but the chance of their development is greater if you expose your skin to the sun regularly. There is not a surefire method of prevention, but avoiding excessive amounts of sunlight and UV rays will help.

Getting rid of red moles depends on whether or not they are cancerous. If you begin to see red moles on your skin that fluctuate in shape and size (especially when in contact with sunlight), go to a dermatologist immediately. The best chance when fighting cancer is to attack it early.

Mole Removal Treatment

In most cases, a red mole removal treatment is not necessary, but there are still some moles that are removed for cosmetic or if they are irritating, get scratched easily and bleed.  The method chosen for your mole removal will generally depend on the type and characteristics of your moles and its location.

Laser Mole Removal

V Beam Laser or an IPL are usually used for removing flat and pigmented moles. This method of mole removal may require about 3 treatments to make the mole invisible. The laser beam or pulsed light is selectively absorbed by the vasculature  of the red mole, which then shrinks and involutes.

Another option is to use the CO 2 laser. This laser will target the red mole and be able to 'weld' it shut.
